Multiple Subaru/Starlink Flaws Disclosed by Researcher

Security researchers have disclosed multiple vulnerabilities related to Subaru vehicles using Starlink Internet, according to Wired.

The researchers, Sam Curry and Shubham Shah, found that it was possible for unauthorized persons to manipulate various vehicle features using Subaru's web portal. Affected features included unlocking the vehicle, starting the vehicle, activating the horn, and granting permissions to other phones and computers.

Additionally, it was revealed that Subaru maintains an extensive history of vehicle location data that most drivers are unlikely to know about. The location data was accurate down to the size of a particular parking space in a parking lot.

The issues were reportedly fixed by Subaru within about one day of being notified.
