Boards and essentials
Small hand tools
Basic tools for mounting and examining low-voltage projects.
What it does
A small screwdriver, cutters, and a continuity meter help with assembly and inspection. Some modifications also require soldering equipment and suitable eye protection.
Connections and compatibility
Work on disconnected equipment and keep removed screws or debris out of mechanisms.
Choosing one
Reuse tools you already have. For a servo conversion, confirm the housing opens and the model is modifiable before buying extras.
Common mistakes
A mechanism that resists opening may be glued or non-serviceable. A soldering iron and cutters are not required for the unmodified servo tutorial.
Use it in a tutorial
- Convert a servo to continuous rotation — Understand a servo conversion, calibrate neutral, and control continuous rotation with a short timed run.
